# Iceland lava/caldera scan research

Read [path removed] first and follow it exactly. Your topic is `iceland`, and your directory is [path removed]

Scope: Icelandic (and other Arctic) volcanic terrain data. Leads to check, though you are not limited to these:
- IslandsDEM v1 from Landmælingar Íslands (LMI): 2 m and 10 m, licence to be checked, possibly downloadable as tiles or COG.
- ArcticDEM from PGC: 2 m strips and mosaics, available as COGs on AWS/STAC, so /vsicurl reads work.
- Holuhraun 2014–15: the flow field, the Baugur crater row, the eruptive fissure, the flow channels and the open channel lava. Published TanDEM-X and Pléiades DEMs and UAS surveys exist, e.g. Dirscherl, Pedersen and others.
- The Bárðarbunga caldera subsidence (2014–15).
- Askja: the Öskjuvatn caldera, Víti, and the 1961 flows.
- Fagradalsfjall, Geldingadalir, Meradalir and Sundhnúkur 2021–2024: the NSI/LMI photogrammetric DEM series on Zenodo, Pedersen et al. 2022 and similar, plus the Grindavík graben and fissures.
- Laki (Lakagígar): the crater row and the Eldhraun moss-covered lava.
- Eldgjá: the fissure canyon.
- Þingvellir graben. The scans are CC BY-NC, which is acceptable.
- Krafla and Leirhnjúkur: fissures and steaming ground with sulfur.
- Námafjall / Hverir: sulfur fumarole field and solfataras.
- Sketchfab photogrammetry of Icelandic lava fields (record only).
- Wikimedia Commons photos.

Priorities: (1) fissure plus crater-row plus flow-field layouts (Holuhraun, Laki, Fagradalsfjall) at metre scale, (2) caldera and collapse rims (Askja, Bárðarbunga), (3) sulfur fumarole ground (Hverir). Produce samples for the best 5–8. When you finish, reply with a concise summary: top picks, each with resolution, licence and output paths.
